Umhausen

Coming to Umhausen you will first reach the romantic village of Tumpen. Following the federal street you pass the legendary Engelswand rockface, above which you spott he Farst hamlet situated on steep hills. If you continue slightly uphill to the south you will reach the main village Umhausen. The villages of Niederthai and Koefels are nestled in the mountains on a sunny plateau at 1,500 m altitude.

In the heart of the Oetztal summer sees the nature unfolding its colours with all its strength. Green stretches of the valley filled with colourful flowers. Countless hiking trails are starting in and around Umhausen. With 159 meters the Stuibenfall is the highest waterfall of the Tyrol.

At the base of the fall crystal clear water flows through the small rivers with tall trees lining up the sides. These trees are a source of natural perfume that covers everything within their reaches. The environment is absolutely marvellous and leaves a lasting impression on all visitors.

The whole area around Umhausen and his hamlets Koefels,, Farst and Tumpen is a real Hiking dorado and starting point for alpine tours.

A wide spread net of hiking trails and mountain tours, and a number of  mountain huts are waiting to get explored. There is the right challenge fort he ambitious experienced alpinist, just as there are easy beautiful hikes for everybody.
