Summer in Soelden

Even though we are in the middle of the Alps, it can get really warm here.

This is the mountain summer in Sölden; majestic alpine peaks and a clear view for as far as you can see. From July onwards you can enjoy the open air concerts of the summer music festival. End of August sees Sölden hosting a massive cycling event. About 3,000 cyclists begin their marathon here.

If you are a passionate trekker Sölden will give you a brand new experience to remember. There are about 300 kilometres of well defined and marked ways and paths for the trekkers. The paths run between 1.377 meters up to about 3,744 meters above the sea level. On your way you will see some of the most beautiful spots on the earth, some lakes at these heights.

The cottages will take care of your physical needs of refreshments and local delicacies.

What else can you do here? Mountain climbing, rock climbing, Nordic walking, Mountain biking and rafting, canyoning are some choice for you. In summer you can still go skiing or snowboarding on the glaciers.

Probably the most impressive and breathtaking experience will be to take the cable car to carry you to 3,058 metres above the sea level to the heights of Gaislachkogel.

Winter in Soelden - Ski resort

No limitations - concerning wintersports Soelden is a unique state of the art resort: 150 kilometres of slopes and tracks, a  Mecca for skiers, carvers and to top it all you can go Glacier skiing from here. Get lost on the extensive slopes around.

Enjoy cross country skiing or sledge on the well groomed tracks. Sölden boasts of an ice skating rink which is 2,000 square meters in size. If you are up to it: numerous après-ski hang outs, bars and restaurants ensure a night on the town you won' t forget.

Soelden is the largest community of Austria in terms of area, and sustains also Hochsoelden, Gurgl, Heiligkreuz, Vent and Zwieselstein. By the construction of refuges and lanes, the area was developed for tourism, the real upgrading for winter sports area started with the construction of the first lifts in 1948. Today tourism, and mainly winter tourism, is one of the most important commercial sectors, in which also summer tourism became more and more important during the last years.
