Ice climbing is not only for specialists. In recent years, ice climbing in Tyrol has become an absolute winter hit. Here in the Ötztal we have numerous frozen waterfalls, ranging from the easy to the challenging.

Our strong partners offer not only private tours but also group tours. Here you will learn what is important: belaying, crampon technique, evaluation of ice quality and difficulty levels.

Ice climbing at night in the Ötztal: Especially the night climbing in Längenfeld is very popular with young and old. Once a week near the center of the village at the natural waterfall "Alte Burgsteinerstraße" the very special adrenaline kick is offered.

The very special experience can be found in Längenfeld. In terms of ice climbing, all the levers have been pulled in recent years and so the idea became a success story that will continue this year.

With two different natural waterfalls, Umhausen promises various tours with different levels of difficulty. Climbers, however, should definitely be practiced and not be active in this sport for the first time.

Waterfall 1:
Description: beautiful ice tank with a difficult final.
Difficulty: WI 2/5+
Pitches: 3-4 pitches; 70 - 190 m
Altitude Parking: Elementary school Tumpen
Ascent : walk out of the valley to the left at the farm and then directly to the waterfall (approx. 30 min)
Descent: done via the tour with ice clocks and trees or go through the forest at the top and rappel over trees there.
Route names: Spider, El Gringo, Fix and Foxi, Master Propper.

Waterfall 2:
Description: waterfall climbing.
Difficulty: WI 4+
Pitches: about 6 pitches; 240 m
Height Parking: Engelswand climbing garden - parking lot
Ascent : walk past the Engelswand climbing garden and through the birch forest to the icefall (approx. 30 min)
Descent: abseil down the tour by means of ice clocks and trees
Route name: Kriseila

A beautiful natural waterfall is located in Ochsengarten near Oetz. However, the climbers should definitely be practiced and not be the first time in this sport; even if the waterfalls invite you to the "first time". Ice climbing is done at your own risk. The ice climbing sites are neither maintained nor closed in case of danger.

Waterfall:
Description: Short waterfalls
Difficulty: WI 2/3+
Pitches: 2 pitches; 75 m
Altitude Parking: From Oetz in the direction of Ochsengarten. Park after "Taxegg" at bridge on the right.
Approach: Walk through the forest until you reach the forest road. At the end of the forest road ascend in the direction of the waterfall (approx. 30 min) Descent: abseil down the tour using ice clocks and trees (30 min) Route names: Spider, El Gringo, Fix and Foxi, Master Propper.
